IMEI of your Apple device

There are several ways to find out the serial number and IMEI of your device. Read this article to learn how to find the serial number and IMEI of your iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac, or any other Apple device:

  • For owners of iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, one of the easiest ways is to check those numbers in the Settings menu:
    1. Open Settings.
    2. Then, select General.
    3. In General, press About.
    4. Scroll down to see all the needed information.
  • You can also find the serial number of your device in iTunes:
    1. Connect your device to a computer.
    2. Then, open iTunes.
    3. Click on the Summary tab.
  • For owners of Mac:
    1. Open the Apple Menu.
    2. Then, select About This Mac.
    3. Double-click on the version number of Mac OSX.
  • If your device is unresponsive or turned off, you can check these numbers on its surface:
    • iPad, iPod - On the back of the device.
    • iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, X, XR, XS, XS Max, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, SE (2nd generation) - The IMEI is located on the SIM tray.
    • iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4(GSM model), 4s - Both the IMEI and the serial number are located on the SIM tray.
    • iPhone 5, 5s, 5c, SE(1st generation), 6, 6 Plus - The IMEI is located on the back of the device.
    • Unibody MacBook Pro iMac G4, iMac G3 - On the back of the device.
    • MacBook, early MacBook Pro, PowerBook G4, PowerMac G3, PowerMac G4 – Inside the battery compartment.
    • iBooks (White) - Under the keyboard.
    • Intel iMac, iMac G5 - Under the main stand.
    • Mac Pro, PowerMac G5 – On the lower cover under the side panel.
  • If you don’t have your device, there are some other options to find out the serial number or IMEI of your device:
    1. On the barcode label on the original package.
    2. On the purchase receipt.
